Communities with difficult access in Veraguas are connected to TV technology (TVWS)

-With this TV blank space connectivity project (TVWS) it is intended to positively impact communities that are located in remote areas with difficult access, especially educational centers and state health facilities.

As part of the alliance to promote technological development in the country between the Government of Panama and Microsoft, the process of connectivity with television blank space technology (TVWS) began in three state schools, located in the Cañazas district of the province of Veraguas.

The planning of this connectivity project began in the province of Veraguas, specifically in areas selected as rural areas with difficult access and represents an important step in reducing the digital divide.

The direct beneficiaries will be the students and teachers of the Corita de Los Pérez schools, Los Panamaes School and the General San Marcelo Basic Education Center.

For Ing. Ricardo Moreno, Coordinator of the National Internet Network of the National Authority for Government Innovation (AIG), the implementation of this project aims to achieve coverage that would not be obtained with other types of technology due to the high infrastructure costs, an action that allows providing connectivity and access to broadband Internet to residents in remote areas of the country.

This project is coordinated by the Service Advisory Board (JAS) of the National Authority for Government Innovation and has the support of the National Authority of Public Services (ASEP), the Electricity Transmission Company (ETESA), UFINET and Microsoft .
