Cortizo Cohen: "Despite the pandemic, the Government lays the foundations to combat inequalities"

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, said this Friday in the Guna Yala region that, despite the pandemic, in two years his government has worked closely with the communities to lay the foundations that help combat poverty and inequality. in the country.

 

Cortizo Cohen stressed that they have been two extremely intense and rewarding years of government, during which he has visited the Guna Yala region three times, whose population and authorities he asked to work together and without lowering their guard, to control and combat the Covid- 19.

 

"We have to be vigilant and not lower our guard," remarked the president, who, although he expressed feeling optimistic, recalled that in January of this year the percentage of daily cases was almost 30%, which was reduced to a lower figure 5%, but now it is 8%.

 

He stressed that, just as it fell, the rate of positive cases can skyrocket and the population is the only one that can be cared for, for which he asked the residents of Guna Yala to go for vaccination.
