Until August 30, registrations for the Producer's Day contest are open

The Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) announces that until August 30, 2021, registrations will remain open for applications from prominent producers and professionals of the agricultural sciences during the year. Those selected will be awarded on October 8, when the Day of the Producer and Professional of Agricultural Sciences is celebrated.

To enhance the work, effort and dedication of the country's producers and professionals, to enhance this important sector, since 1981 MIDA celebrates every October 8 the Day of the Producer and Professional of Agricultural Sciences. By Executive Decree No. 18 of April 16, 2007, this celebration is officially established, where medals are awarded in different categories, bearing the names of prestigious figures who have contributed to the enrichment of the Panamanian agricultural sector.

The outstanding producers of the year receive the “Rafael Grajales” medal, which is divided into three categories: best large producer, best medium producer and best family farming producer.

While the agricultural science professional receives the “Enrique Enseñat” medal, and the extension worker of the year is awarded the “Manuel E. Melo.

In the same way, the researcher deserves the medal of merit, "Germán De León".
