More than 200 young people summoned by MIDES will volunteer in favor of homes, children's centers and communities at social risk


More than 200 volunteers from different universities and religious groups will be participating in programs aimed at serving priority groups such as early childhood, older adults and young people at social risk, as part of the Voluntary Summer 2021 program, carried out by the Ministry of Social Development.

The initiative will allow young people to contribute to the development of the country, and will begin in February with the participation of volunteers from the University of Panama (UP), Specialized University of the Americas (UDELAS), Inter-American University of Panama (UIP), Technological University of Panama ( UTP) and young people from different churches and social groups in the country.

Volunteers will carry out cleaning, painting and adjustments in the Comprehensive Early Childhood Care Centers (CAIPI), which will provide clean spaces for Panamanian children. They will also build a garden in the Casa Hogar Bolívar that will provide fresh food to this institution, which provides care for more than 100 older adults.

The Voluntary Summer 2021, will move to the townships of El Chorrillo and Santa Ana, to develop activities related to theater and art, with the aim of promoting values ??in young people at social risk.

While in the province of Bocas del Toro and Los Santos, the Communal Volunteers Committee will be installed, to guarantee that solidarity actions continue to reach the most vulnerable people throughout the national territory.

The National Directorate of Volunteering of the Ministry of Social Development, reported that these spaces allow the participation of citizens in the improvement of their environment through joint actions.
Volunteering is a new way of promoting responsibility, solidarity and the work of all Panamanians to improve the quality of life of the people in our country, as a concrete action of the community aimed at fighting poverty.
