Panama Metro receives 4 proposals for the design of the tunnel of Metro Line 3


The Panama Metro, S.A. (MPSA) carried out the act of reception of technical and economic proposals for the Bid for Best Value for the Basic and Detail Design of the Tunnel for the Crossing through the Panama Canal of Line 3, for a reference price of 13 million Dollars.

The public event was held virtually, in which 4 proponents submitted their technical and economic proposals electronically: Consortium Túnel de Las América (Técnica y Proyectos, SA-Typsa and Louis Berger LAC. S. de RL), Consortium Aecom-Sener Tunnel Line 3, (URS Holdings, Inc. and Sener Ingeniería y Sistemas, SA) Consorcio Applus Norcontrol Panamá, SA / Applus Norcontrol SL Sociedad Unipersonal / Geocontrol, S.A. and the Ayesa-ILF Consortium (Ayesa Ingeniería y Arquitectura, S.A., Ayesa Panamá, S.A. and ILF Consulting Engineers Austria GMBH).

As of June 1, the participating companies have 3 business days to make corrections to the Scope of Works found in the submitted proposal.

The proposals submitted, once the legal term of correction has expired, will be analyzed by the Evaluation Commission, which has a period of 10 working days to deliver its report.

The information on the opening of proposals will be published in the Electronic System of Public Procurement, www.panamacompras.gob.pa

After this public event, the tender will be held to select the company to be in charge of the tunnel construction.

According to the schedule made by the MPSA, it is calculated that after the delivery of the order to proceed on Line 3 (February 22, 2021), the construction phase of the tunnel should begin in 24 months.

Line 3 includes an underground section with an approximate length of 5.3 kilometers, with a depth of no more than 64 meters.
