Warning to citizens for scam by alleged financial companies

The population is invited to consult the official website of the General Directorate of Financial Companies: (empresasfinancieras.mici.gob.pa) to verify the companies duly authorized to carry out financial activity.


The General Directorate of Financial Companies of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI), warns citizens about the illegal activity of "supposed companies" and natural persons that offer loans through advertisements in newspapers, websites and social networks, as announced Francis Quintero, General Director of Financial Companies of the institution.

These entities and people are not regulated or supervised by the General Directorate of Financial Companies, since they lack the authorization required to carry out the activity of financial companies in or from the Republic of Panama, as established by current legislation.

The population is invited to consult the official website of the General Directorate of Financial Companies: (empresasfinancieras.mici.gob.pa) to verify the companies duly authorized to carry out financial activity.

It is important to note that financial companies duly authorized by the General Directorate of Financial Companies do not request money in advance. If anyone has been a victim of these scams, they are urged to file a complaint with the Public Ministry.
