They coordinate actions for labor equality with a gender focus

The SIGénero Program is part of the 2030 agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically in the goal number of “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, SDG numbers 8 and 16 to “promote economic growth, inclusive and sustainable, full and productive employment and decent work for all.


The Minister of Labor and Labor Development, Doris Zapata Acevedo, met with the 2024 Labor Equality Project Board in Panama to support the implementation of the Institutional Plan for Labor Equality and the Gender Equality Seal in companies, which is being developed with the technical assistance of the United Nations Program (UNDP), to strengthen and provide continuity to public policy with important challenges in terms of gender and equality in our country.

“It is a crucial moment to consolidate national objectives related to social justice for all, focused on principles and public policies that include the approach to labor equality in terms of gender aimed at promoting and guaranteeing, from a human rights perspective, the treatment and opportunities in employment and occupation, always ensuring respect for fundamental rights in labor relations,” said the Minister of Labor.

She added that as an entity we have managed to establish great advances and contributions in an articulated manner for the empowerment of women through programs and projects directed by the Mitradel Gender Equality Directorate, obtaining positive results internally and externally. He also highlighted the commitment to guarantee that, as a country, continuity is given to the Institutional Plan for Labor Equality and the Equality Seal (Yes Gender) program for its extension until December 31, 2025.

He explained that the Gender Equality Seal program is a system that promotes equity and seeks to improve business strategy, human resource management, including recruitment criteria, promotion, strategic planning and communication procedures.

The Seal is a distinction that is awarded to government entities and private companies that stand out, that meet the requirements that promote the development of Equal Opportunity policies between women and men, promoting equitable working conditions and eliminating wage gaps between both sexes,” said the Minister.
