CSS highlights the work of outstanding medical professionals

In a ceremony celebrating Doctor's Day in Ciudad de la Salud, the general director of the Social Security Fund, Dr. Enrique Lau Cortés, thanked all doctors without distinction on behalf of the institution for serving the country and He urged them to enjoy the fruit of their labor.

In his words he highlighted that 50 years ago the patient considered the doctor as the divine word, what the doctor said was what was done, today the patient is informed and forces the doctor to stay updated and with the commitment to study every day .

“We are facing a career that has been evolving, a future that even though it seems to point the way, – and during COVID19, where communications were developed through digital means. – Today we are sure that we are on the threshold, of an avenue with which we will have to deal with artificial intelligence in clinical application or 'big data' with personalized treatment and genetic therapies."

He highlighted that the future is full of challenges, but despite these changes, there is something that has not changed, “the values ??and principles that made us embrace this profession.”

During the event he was recognized with the “Dr. Jorge Abadía Arias” and delivery of Scrolls, to 28 doctors and specialists distinguished for their extensive career for the benefit of patients and the country, in the grade of “Excellent Professional” and “Excellent Teacher”.  

For his part, Dr. Enrique Mendoza, specialist in endocrinology, representing the doctors honored, gave his congratulations, thanks and recognition “to all the doctors of the Republic who, throughout the territory of the Isthmus, take care of the health of our compatriots".

“The Social Security Fund is the institution closest to the heart of the people of Panama, you have to love it, love it with passion, you have to give everything to serve the community of Panamanians who come to our facilities.
