The First Lady's Office brings Social Assistance to families of Nuevo Vigía in the Emberá Wounaan Region

The inhabitants of Nuevo Vigía received health care. Donations were given to families after social evaluation. The educational center received the donation of 12 tablets.


The Office of the First Lady of the Republic, led by Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, carried out an inter-institutional social assistance tour in the community of Nuevo Vigía, Lajas Blanca district, Cémaco district in the Emberá Wounaan region, benefiting about 160 families with various services.

  The inhabitants of this community received pediatric and adult health care, dentistry, vaccination, pharmacy, laboratory, placement of subdermal implants (contraceptives) and veterinary care for pets. The Ministry of Social Development and the National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Family also participated in this inter-institutional tour. 

 Prior to this tour, the social workers conducted a tour and recruited nine families with special needs, to whom they took basic belongings, wheelchairs, canes, school kits, kitchen kits, hygiene kits, mats and blankets.

 12 tablets were also delivered to the General Basic Educational Center, which has an enrollment of 185 students, who were also able to enjoy amenities prepared by the National Border Service and delivery of bicycles and gifts.

 Nuevo Vigía Community

It has 320 dairy-type homes, with approximately 1,500 inhabitants. They are dedicated to crafts, subsistence agriculture and fishing.
