The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, received the credentials of ambassadors from six countries this Tuesday, in an event held in the Yellow Room of the Presidency.

Accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, the president received the credentials of the ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Xi Xueyuan; from Argentina, Sandra Rosana Pitta; and from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, James Edward Dauris.

Also presenting their letters of credentials were the ambassador of Ecuador, Silvia Yolanda Espíndola Arellano; from El Salvador, Iveth Zoraida Pineda Panamanian; and from Guatemala, Karla Gabriela Samayoa Recari.

Minister Tewaney Mencomo said that President Cortizo Cohen spoke with the ambassadors about the importance of bilateral relations and maintaining ties, both political and commercial, with Panama.

They also talked about Panama's seat on the United Nations Security Council, which constitutes a privileged position, especially at the times the world is going through today.
