In the second transition meeting, Cortizo and Mulino address the issue of the State's public finances

The head of the MEF, Héctor Alexander, presented a detailed presentation to the president-elect, José Raúl Mulino, and the designated MEF minister, Felipe Chapman, on the situation of the country's economy and the public finances of the Panamanian State.


In one more step of the transition process, unique, orderly and exemplary, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, met this morning with the president-elect, José Raúl Mulino, to address economic issues and the public finances of the State.

At the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the second in the transition process for the change of Government, President Cortizo Cohen was accompanied by the head of the MEF, Héctor Alexander; the vice ministers Carlos González (Economy), Jorge Almengor (Finance); the general director of Revenue, Publio De Gracia, and the transition team headed by Saleh Asvat, secretary of Public-Private Partnership, among other officials.

For his part, the elected president José Raúl Mulino was accompanied by the Minister of Economy and Finance appointed as of July 1, Felipe Chapman, and other members who will make up his economic team.

At the meeting, Minister Alexander and his work team provided the president-elect and his companions with all the technical and updated information on the current situation of the State's public finances, as well as the execution of the General State Budget for the validity of 2024.

The administration of President Cortizo Cohen reiterates its commitment to carry out a transparent transition and with detailed information to the authorities that will begin their constitutional functions as of July 1, to guarantee the continuity of the execution of public policies that benefit Panamanians. .

President-elect José Raúl Mulino and the task team he has appointed will assume their constitutional functions as of July 1, 2024.
