National Government closes discretionary item 2019-2024 of the President of the Republic

The National Government communicates the closure of the 2019-2024 Higher Office Program fund known as “Discretionary Item”, corresponding to the period of President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, in order to deliver a final report to the Comptroller General of the Republic.

The detailed expenses of the Higher Office Program fund are published on the website of the Ministry of the Presidency until April 2024, with the aim that anyone can consult them, observing the date, the amount spent, the beneficiaries. and the suppliers of each use.

The reports are published no later than 30 days after the close of each month and also include details such as check number, R.U.C./D.V. number, benefit concept and beneficiary ID number.  In that sense, every disbursement approved by the Presidency of the Republic goes through the Inspection, Approval and Endorsement process of the Comptroller General of the Republic.

Likewise, it was reported that new requests for support granted through said item will be received, but due to the nature of the process that takes a few weeks, final approvals may correspond to the incoming government that takes over the administration as of July 1, 2024.

The same process will be adopted to address new requests for social or medical needs in the Social Secretariat of the Ministry of the Presidency, as well as the Directorate of Social Assistance (DAS) and the Office of the First Lady of the Republic.
