INEC AND SENACYT launch Business Innovation Survey

The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) of the Comptroller General of the Republic together with the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT) launched the Business Innovation Survey (EIE) 2021-2022, which will be will take place from April 1 to June 30, 2024.

The comptroller general, Gerardo Solís, expressed that this instrument aims to collect, process and have information on the innovations carried out by companies at the national level, products (goods and/or services), processes, organizational and marketing, for which, among other topics, economic, financial and human resources are measured.

In addition, obtaining data on sales, exports and expenses of companies dedicated to innovation activities, as well as investments, identification of financing sources, sources of information and the origin of innovative ideas that companies use for the development of activities.

The survey will focus on collecting information from formally established companies, within the national territory, so Mobile Capture Devices (DMC) will be used to capture data, used in the 2023 Population and Housing Censuses.

The Business Innovation Survey was applied for the first time in the year 2006-2008, and the updating of the statistical data will allow us to investigate economic behavior and development, as well as obtain a complementary overview of the processes carried out by the country's business sector. .

Through an inter-institutional agreement, the Comptroller General's Office and SENACYT successfully completed the training process for the EIE's registration staff and supervisors for the field operation.
