Panama and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding that promotes collaboration in the management of migration.


Panama and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding that promotes collaboration in the management of migration, including support for safe and effective Panamanian repatriation operations, which includes the review of cases that require protection.  

This program will help the Panamanian government with the repatriation of foreign citizens who have entered Panama irregularly. 

Additionally, it seeks to reduce unprecedented irregular migration through the Darién region, through which more than 520,000 migrants passed through in 2023.
