MiAMBIENTE signs agreement with the Training and Forestry Institute of Panama (INAFOP)

This framework cooperation agreement aims to develop joint activities in academic and scientific areas, such as development of a research program, execution of plans and programs that support the dissemination and training of key actors in charge of directly preserving the environment and natural resources.


The Minister of Environment Milciades Concepción and Agustina Gutiérrez, president and legal representative of the Environmental and Forestry Higher Training Institute of Panama (INAFOP) signed a framework agreement between their institutions this Thursday at the ministerial headquarters. This framework cooperation agreement aims to develop joint activities in academic and scientific areas, such as development of a research program, execution of plans and programs that support the dissemination and training of key actors in charge of directly preserving the environment and natural resources.

Participating in the signing of the agreement were: Minister Milciades Concepción, Agustina Gutiérrez president and legal representative of INAFOP, Fabiola Vega head of the International Technical Cooperation office, technical staff of the Ministry of Environment and special guests.

The duration of this agreement will be five years, counted from the endorsement by the Comptroller General of the Republic of Panama.

The Minister of Environment, Milciades Concepción stated that, “the agreement we signed today will allow us to jointly develop research and teaching projects in order to strengthen environmental management and ensure forestry development, implementing programs that promote environmental education, collaboration in research and generation of new knowledge.”

For her part, the legal representative and president of INAFOP, Agustina Gutiérrez, expressed that, “training is one of the main objectives so that all young people have the support of public and private institutions in trying to improve the environment.”

Gutiérrez gave a plant as a gift to the Minister of Environment Milciades Concepción as a symbol of life, a plant that in the institution “helps us strengthen, direct and improve environmental management to sustain all these objectives that the country has set.”

This working relationship that is formalized today will yield innumerable benefits in the environmental and forestry development of the country.
