President Cortizo Cohen and President-elect Mulino lead first transition meeting

President Cortizo Cohen highlighted that his administration will carry out a unique, transparent and exemplary transition that will serve as a reference for future changes of government in the Executive Branch.


Fulfilling the commitment to carry out an orderly, single and transparent transition, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen held a meeting this afternoon with the president-elect, José Raúl Mulino Quintero, to whom a report related to national security was submitted.

In the meeting, the first with which the transition process began, President Cortizo Cohen was accompanied by the Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, Foreign Minister Janaina Tewaney (Deputy member of the transition team) and heads of the establishments of security that make up the Public Force. In this collaborative meeting, the president-elect was provided with all the details to guarantee an orderly meeting for the new administration that will begin on July 1, 2024.

For his part, the elected president José Raúl Mulino was accompanied by the next designated Minister of Public Security, Frank Ábrego and other members who will make up the security team of the new administration.

After this meeting between both teams, held at the headquarters of the National Operation Center (CON) of the National Police, the administration of President Cortizo Cohen ensures that the new government knows all the relevant aspects of the execution carried out by this administration and collaborates closely for a democratic and orderly transition for the benefit of Panamanians.

The transition process will continue tomorrow with the presentation to President-elect José Raúl Mulino and his work team of the report on the State's public finances.
