President Mulino hands over the national flag to boxer Atheyna Baylon

In the event held this Friday in the Yellow Room of the Presidency of the Republic, President Mulino said that it is a great honor for him to have handed over the national flag to boxer Atheyna Baylon, representing the delegation of athletes from the country who will give their best effort.

“Without a doubt, Atheyna will shine and all Panamanians will be waiting for her honorable participation there in that French city. “Panama has had athletes like you carrying the national flag, the first being the swimmer Adán Gordón, in 1928,” said Mulino, remembering other Panamanian athletes who made history such as Llody La Beach, winner of two bronze medals in the London games in 1948, and Irving Saladino from Colon, who won the only gold medal for Panama in 2008 in Beijing, China.

The Panamanian president said that this ceremony, which marks the participation of the delegation of national athletes to the Paris Olympics, is also a demonstration, at the beginning of his Government, that Pandeportes will be an entity far from politicking and political manipulation. .



“Today, definitely handing over this flag to a Panamanian woman with great merit, and also a member of the National Police, implies a great effort in which this police institution must also be recognized for allowing the training of its members for missions. of this nature,” Mulino concluded.

Present at the official ceremony were the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac; the director of Pandeportes, Miguel Ordoñez; the president of the Panama Olympic Committee (COP), Damaris Young; coach Yelko Gómez and members of the COP Board of Directors.

The delegation of Panamanian athletes for the Paris Olympic Games is made up of Atheyna Baylon (boxing), Emily Santos (aquatics), Gianna Woodruff (athletics), Hillary Heron (gymnastics), Kristine Jiménez (judo), Franklin Archibold (cycling) and Tyler Christianson (aquatics).
